The Haunted Old Licking County Jail



Even if an 100 year-old jail was not house any prisoners. Even if the cells are empty, It still contain something you can’t see. It still have the suffering sound that ask for help.










The Old Licking County Jail in Ohio was built in 1889 to contained 96 male and 30 female prisoners. The infamouse inmates stayed here such as Laura Belle Devlin , 72 years old woman who killed her husband and cut off his arms and head with a hand saw then cooked them with the oven

and threw the torso out in her back yard.She is known as “The Hand Saw Slayer”. The Blood Brothers, Thaddeus and Gary Lewingdon who robbed and shot to death 10 people across three countries. They are known as “ The .22-caliber killers”.


     
The most horror happened when Carl Etherington , A Dry-Agent Detective who was being held in the second-floor jail because he beat the former Captain of the Newark Police Department and shot him to death. An angry mob of over a thousand people stormed to the second floor cell block where Etherington was being held and beat him to death with a sledge hammer. The mob dragged his body to the town square and lynched him to the telegraph pole. It has been said that over five thousand people saw his body including women and children.

4 sheriffs and 14 inmates died here, both suicide and murdered. Martin Kelly who cut his throat with a razor blade, he borrowed from his friends. Mae Varner, 55 years old woman who burned herself to death with only one match she had.

Nowadays the building is empty but it’s not that empty. People who ended their lives here was not leaving. The still living here. The footsteps still heard. The door still slammed by itself. The camera malfunction without any caused. This proves their existence. They still waiting for help and haunted people who visited here.
